About Anne Marie Ward

As the CEO of FAVOR-UK, the leading addiction advocacy & recovery charity in the UK, I have dedicated the past 11 years to advancing the vision and mission of the organisation and its membership. With a progressive 20 plus-year career in policy, advocacy, and social justice, I bring a forward-thinking and critical evidence-based approach to addressing the complex and multifaceted issues of addiction and recovery. My core competencies include strategic planning, change management, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. I have successfully introduced and sustained Recovery Month in the UK, organised 15 UK Recovery Walks and Conferences, created the UK's first dedicated Addiction Advocacy Case Worker Service, and developed the UK 'Recovery Declaration of Rights'. I was the key architect in developing and lobbying for the Right to Recovery Bill, which I successfully brought to the Scottish Parliament. This is the first piece of legislation in the UK specifically designed to support individuals suffering from addiction. I have also built and maintained strong relationships and partnerships with industry leaders, funders, members of parliament, and the media, as well as the Public Health England now OHID National Mutual Aid Reference Group and several All-Party Parliamentary Groups. I am passionate and driven to empower and support individuals and groups who are affected by addiction and to advocate for their rights and dignity.
