Research assistantship:- Analysis of the microsatellite allele frequency, early life history, and habitat preferences of two reef fish from the northwestern Gulf of Mexico.- DNA extraction, PCR amplification (optimization and troubleshooting), gel electrophoresis, fingerprinting analysis and allele frequency analysis using Structure software and IBD software were employed.- Marine fish otolith (ear "stones" with incremental growth) analysis, including extractions, polishing prep, and readings were utilized for early life history analysis.- Benthic analysis and habitat preference associations were analyzed using SCUBA transect photos and transect counts.Teaching assistantships:- Great Ideas in Science: website management, grading of quizzes and exams, utilizing and implementing Blackboard and iClicker technologies, answering and assisting students, and at times standing in for the professor when he was not available for lectures.- Taught Plant Biology labs independently. This involved lecture and quiz preparation, assisting students, as well as grading quizzes and written lab reports.
