Our mission at Youth Development Executive of King County was to connect, strengthen, and amplify youth-serving organizations so that all Black, Indigenous, and youth of color thrive. I provided strategic planning, project management, facilitation, and leadership to YDEKC’s engagement and learning events and programs for members and partners, including cross-sector collaboration initiatives in King County. Our learning activities focused on supporting leaders to build their own capacity by focusing on relationships and learning in community with peers, sharing from experience and gaining support from others doing similar work with a focus on racial equity and supporting individual and organizational leadership development and capacity building.Examples of what this looked like include: Ensuring member-leadership through facilitation of YDEKC’s Equity & Engagement Program Committee including recruitment, retention, meeting coordination, and facilitation to support in-depth planning for YDEKC’s core learning events and programs; Leading design process and provide project management for programs including large learning events such as the Thriving Leaders series and the School's Out Washington Bridge Conference;Creating opportunities to influence system leaders in the K-12 sector to develop partnerships with Community Based Organizations in support of youth of color; Designing and hosting events for system leaders and practitioners from the youth development and education sectors to learn from one another and explore effective practices; Strengthening regional capacity to build and sustain partnerships within and across sectors, through the creation and promotion of accessible resources such as YDEKC’s School-Community Partnership Toolkit and curriculum.

When serving as a consultant and coach, I collaborate with non-profit organizations and educational institutions to identify and implement customized solutions to engage participants, develop leaders, and build strong communities, and facilitate community building and program development with cross-sector or cross-functional teams. I manage complex projects from start to finish, including vision creation, stakeholder interviews, meeting facilitation, timeline tracking, communication, and product development and delivery. I coach leaders through role and responsibility changes, growth opportunities, and challenges and design and facilitate interactive leadership and youth development workshops focused on strategies that cultivate learning, build skills, and improve outcomes.Past clients include East African Community Services, Seattle Public Schools, and Supporting Partnerships in Education and Beyond (SPEB), and Youth Development Executives of King County

Inspired and supervised four directors, four coordinators, 150 part-time and seasonal leaders, and 325 volunteers in the design and delivery of programs in the departments of Teen Leadership, Camp and Family Engagement, Sports and Recreation, Challenge and Climbing, and Active Older Adults.

Created and supervised Community Learning Center-style enrichment program for the YMCA at West Seattle High School, serving more than 550 9th-12th grade students of diverse demographics. Directed innovative academic enrichment summer program for incoming academically low-performing 9th grade students.

Built and directed academic enrichment after-school program for 175 participants in grades K through 6 in the North Bronx. Mentored and trained college-age young adults and program staff in community building, classroom and crisis management, and the integration of academic skill-building into programming.

Directed mentor/mentee coordinators in implementation of a 1:1 mentoring program for 1,200 high school students. Ensured readiness and inspired commitment of new participants through training mentors and mentees in effective relationship-building techniques and safety guidelines.

One of 12 Fellows selected from a competitive national pool to participate in a multi-sector public policy fellowship that included consulting projects with the New York State Department of Education, Dominican Women's Development Center, and Citibank.
