Profile bio

About Anne Taddey

By lunchtime my first day teaching English to 9 and 10 year olds in Katowice, Poland in the summer of 2017, I was hooked. I decided that day one of the first things I would do when I returned home would be to investigate how I could get an elementary school teacher's credential. I had studied Elementary Education as an undergraduate and graduated in that program, and teaching English in a summer day camp program brought back all the methods and the joys of seeing children learn. My career has been in administrative and clerical positions in several different sectors. An overarching theme is they are all in environments that valued people, relationships and collaboration. Creativity and collaboration are also important values I have, and even in the accounting field I had opportunities to use both of them. More recently, while studying at NDNU, I worked through Swing Education as a substitute para educator and substitute teacher. I especially enjoyed an extended assignment at a school in the Ravenswood School District where I worked with just a few students with special needs. My student teaching placements have confirmed that I want to teach all subjects. With the lockdown this year, I learned and used technology tools I previously would not have known. All these experiences I feel contribute to readying me to take on my own classroom. Ideally I would like to teach 3rd or 4th grade. With my recent back-to-back student teaching experiences I have gained more experience creating, teaching, and adjusting lesson plans, collaborating with other teachers, and learning how to teach so that students are engaged. I consider myself a life-long learner and seek to empower others to discover more about themselves, others, and the world we live in. I have a talent for breaking things down into manageable parts, and I can make complicated things easier whether it's writing, speaking, or training side by side. The joy of learning is something I encourage in any setting in which I work.

Listed skills include Administrative Assistants, Invoicing, Office Management, Accounts Payable, and 46 others.

Long Term Substitute Teacher

Current

San Mateo, California, United States

As a long-term 3rd grade substitute teacher I plan and implement instruction for my class of 19 students including English Language Learners and inclusion students. I collaborate with the 3rd grade team on special projects and events for the grade level and attend grade level team meetings and staff meetings. I work closely with the 3rd grade special day class teacher and the school's RSP teacher to support our students, attending SST, 504 Plan and IEP meetings for my students. I check in regularly with other staff such as the school's ocupational therapist, school counselor, school psychologist, and speech therapist to support goals for students. I assess students' learning and adjust my instruction to address areas of need. I prepare report cards at the end of each trimester of the school year that are sent home with students to show their progress. For students out for an extended period or on independent study, I prepared assignments, coordinated with parents, and monitored the students' learning through virtual check-ins. I regularly communicate with students' parents in a weekly update to 3rd grade families sharing what students are learning and informing them of upcoming topics in the curriculum and other class or school activities. I attend weekly staff meetings and meetings with my grade-level team, professional development days sponsored by the district, and special school events to support my students.

Feb 2019 - Mar 2020

Mathematics Tutor

San Francisco Bay Area

I worked with a thirteen year-old homeschooled student, meeting twice a week to prepare her for Algebra in seventh grade during the next school year when she is transferring to public school. After assessing her learning needs, I identified areas that needed extra attention and corrected weekly tests from her homeschool textbook, going over any missed problems in real time to show how to solve them. This often would include teaching the correct approach for a certain type of equation, and sharing time-saving ideas that allowed her to get the same answer but with less work. As needed, I broke down math problems, explained algebraic concepts and provided tips for solving a variety of algebra and geometry math problems, as well as instilling the value of always checking her work and final answers to see if they made sense. As she progressed, she was increasingly confident of her ability to tackle common algebra problems and showed an understanding of the use decimals, fractions, and percents. I created a looseleaf Algebra notebook for her to keep as a reference that compiled all of what she had studied in easy to read formats. Concepts covered included but were not limited to: scientific notation, order of operations, exponents, quadratic equations, polynomials, graphs, slope, probability, proportions, ratios and fractions.

Jan 2019 - May 2019

English Tutor

San Francisco Bay Area

I met regularly with a middle school student to guide her through the process of researching and drafting her first research paper. The topic was her choice. I provided guidance on the structure of a research paper, point of view about the topic, the typical writing stages, and how to choose and write a thesis sentence and paragraph all while letting her own true voice and insights be the driving force so that the resulting paper was a true representation of her work and her unique communication style. Working with the student was a wonderful experience which helped me discover multiple ways of not only motivating but helping a student get down on paper what is in their head, a task many teens find difficult to accomplish. Through patience, encouragement, and at times, redirection, I gave the student what she needed to succeed in writing her paper, and she came away more informed and confident of her ability to support her points in communicating.

Administrative Assistant, Family Office

Redwood City, Ca

When I started, the family office was a small, dedicated group of accountants, and now the department has close to 50 people. It has been an exciting journey to grow so quickly and strongly! I began as the Document Coordinator and was promoted to Administrative Assistant.Assistant to the partner in charge, managing director and five directors: my professional support gave the department the strong foundation to build upon the practice, and, as a result, revenues grew year after year, four years in a row. I also provide administrative support to a team of 24 controllers, managers, and GL and accounts payable accountants while supervising and training a temp. I handle the calendars for the partner and managing director, plan events for the WwE networking group, finalize legal documents for signatures, and prepare monthly client billing details. Other duties include contact management, drafting engagement letters, proofreading, and coordination of wire transfers as well as meeting the administrative needs of a growing department in the firm. I have been the admin for the Family Office Niche Group for 5 years and other company niche groups.I also on-boarded new clients, paid invoices, and prepared personal bank documents. I developed a new client questionnaire which gave clients an improved way to transmit their information.
