This position is responsible for supporting the execution of the Department wide Information Services strategy, planning, and reporting against progress, as well as evaluating, prioritising, and maintaining a pipeline of strategically aligned program of work designed to improve organisational capability and drive productivity and efficiency.The role acts as a strategic conduit between the Information Services Plan and management to formulate data enabling the mobilisation and monitoring of projects.

Establishment of the strategic initiative the Project Management Office, in the Department for Child Protection and Family Services to improve project management in Information Services, manage the Project Management Officer and manage a limited number of projects. This is an initiative to establish Prince 2 as the project management framework then provide support and resources to project managers across Community and Business Services within the department.

Temporary assignment undertaking Project Management of the implementation of the new FMIS for the Department for Child Protection and Family Services with the contracted service provider. Owing to machinery of government changes this project was suspended in May 2017 and is now closed.

Managing the Financial Accounting Card Administration Team and Accounts Payable Team in Transition to a new Procurement Services structure and downsizing. Areas of management – Trusts funds, Accounts Payable, Write-offs, Government Purchasing Card administration, MasterCard Debit Card business process development, Client Payments Acquittal Reporting, Travel purchasing and policy, Gift Register and policy.I was asked to take this role on as a non-accountant by the then Director of Finance because of my capacity to manage staff and change.

The Working with Children Screening Unit is a regulatory unit established for the purposes of implementing the Working with Children (Criminal Records Screening) Act 2004. I managed the contracts that delivered the counter services, card production and the information technology system. My role was integral to the development of this ‘greenfield’ service through the development of business processes with contracted service providers and linking this to the unit, seeing this through from development to implementation and maturity of the service over four years with ongoing improvements to services.

DEWR provided Employment Services across Australia through contracted service providers and through robust contract management structures and systems. In the Top End Fee for Service employment service contracts were being trialed for remote Indigenous communities. DEWR took over Community Development Employment Projects in 2005 from ATSIS as part of its Employment Services and was trialing the removal of remote area exemptions from the work test. As a Manager I was involved in the implementation of programs and the development of new projects.Working in this management role, I was responsible for teams of contract managers, the management of contracted service providers and inputting into new programs and initiatives.

The Defence Community Organisation is an employer operated service working predominantly to the Command structure contributing to Defence capability. As Area Manager DCO Darwin I represented Defence Families and their issues in government forums, with Senior Command and managed a high performing team of highly committed staff including Defence members. Darwin is a difficult posting for many families with a tropical climate and isolation from family supports. Defence was the second largest contributor to the NT economy with about 10% of Australia’s Defence Forces and the NT government had a Minister representing Defence interests as a result.Working in this leader/manager role I was responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of services to Command, Defence Members and families, networking across government and agencies (i.e. Defence Housing Authority, Vietnam Veterans, Defence Families Australia, Chaplains and the Psych Corps) and planning for service delivery. To deliver those services I developed and streamlined administrative procedures to allow all workers to plan and deliver services more effectively.

In a diverse and interesting career I worked in Child Protection for 16 years in a number of positions in field work, institutions and head office in Western Australia. I worked for 5 years in the Kimberley and I spent 12 months working as a Training Officer in child protection in the Northern Territory.
