In this position I have assist the Hydraulic Engineer with the management of the Hydraulic Section. I have been assisting the Hydraulic Engineer with determining design priorities and distribution of workload, both in-house and with the consultant term contracts. I am the direct supervisor of 11 hydraulic engineers, and I provide them with technical guidance as requested. I am also managing several term consultant contracts.

In this position I managed hydraulic term contracts and provide hydraulic design assistance to all five districts. With the term contracts I was part of the rating and selection team, I managed the contracts including contract negotiations, and I oversaw the consultants’ designs and deliveries. I also designed three stream restoration projects. Many of the projects have required floodplain development permits, which I obtained. I also reviewed projects that have come through Consultant Design.Other tasks I have worked on to assist the Hydraulics Section as a group include: • Working on the redline of the existing MDT Hydraulics Manual and the proposed manual’s outline. Other work on this task included reviewing other states manuals to help determine the direction for the MDT manual. • I originated and organized the “Brainshare” for our group, in which a member of our team teaches the rest of the group a technical skill he or she knows and that would be useful for others in the group.• I set up webinars and training courses.• I was active in the review and submittal of comments to DNRC on their model floodplain ordinance. I developed expertise in hydraulic models such as HEC-RAS, HEC-2, HEC-1, XP-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HY-8, Flowmaster, HEC-12, and HYDRA. I also gained fluency in MicroStation and experience in InRoads. My last year with Jacobs was spent as the lead hydraulic engineer for the Salt Lake City office. During this time, I managed and oversaw the work of two other hydraulic engineers.
