PLACES – European City of Scientific CultureFrom 2010 until 2014 the FP 7 project "PLACES" initiated and developed collaborative and inclusive "Cities of Scientific Culture" in Europe. Looking for a new model of sustainable alliances between cities and universities, the project focused on the development and reinforcement of strategic partnerships between decision makers from 69 cities, universities and scientific institutions in 27 countries. city2science was appointed by the European Science Events Association in January 2013 to work as a Project Officer for PLACES. The main responsibility concerned the coordination and support of about 45 "Pilot Activities" - science communication events involving citizens and decision makers.
