Annette Steinacker is the founding Director of the graduate program in Urban Affairs and Public at Loyola University Chicago (LUC). In this position, she has developed new degree and certificate programs, including two Master’s degrees, a dual degree with the law school, a five-year undergraduate/graduate program, and a certificate program for working adults. She has worked on community outreach and promotional activities, marketing and recruitment strategies, and development of curriculum and co-curricular activities for students. She administers the budget, supervises staff, hires and works with faculty on professional development. Before returning to the Midwest, she was Associate Provost at Claremont Graduate University (CA), where she also had been director of the Masters of Public Policy program and an Associate Professor in Political Science. As Associate Provost, she worked on salary equity issues, program reviews, surveys of student/faculty/staff satisfaction, and special reports for the Provost and Board of Trustees. She has a doctorate in political science from the University of Rochester (NY), a Masters of Public Administration from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her scholarly research focuses on urban politics and local economic development issues, including a study on the economic impacts of an urban university. She has received a National Science Foundation research grant and numerous other grants and contracts. For five years, she was co-editor of Urban Affairs Review, the journal affiliated with the Urban Politics section of the American Political Science Association. She continues to teach graduate classes in public policy and urban politics.
