About Annette Löf
Researcher and aspiring change-agent. PhD in Political Science specializing in research and communication related to social and ecological sustainability, environmental justice, climate change, governance, natural resources, conflict, dialogue, collaboration and Indigenous studies. Rich experience of the policy-science-practice interface through interactive collaborations and commissioned work for several committees and reports, expert and advisor on climate change adaptation, research ethics and land use governance. Assigned expert in the government committee (Renmarkskommittén) tasked with investigating a new reindeer herding legislation in Sweden. My current position is as Senior Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute. With the Equitable Resource Rights and Governance team we focus on equity-centered interventions in policy and practice. My research typically revolves around environmental and land use governance, collaboration and conflicts in a Northern and/or indigenous context. Governance theoretical perspectives - how we formulate and negotiate which societal problems needs addressing and how - provides a backbone in my research. My work is characterized by a critical, engaged and change-oriented scholarship and I have more than 15 years of experience in the field of Sami and reindeer herding related research. Prior to SEI I was a researcher and teacher at the Unit of Environmental Communication at the Dept. of Urban and Rural Development (SLU). I'm an experienced project and process leader and have worked as an independent consultant, starting out as junior consultant in sustainability communications in the early 2000's. As a university teacher my portfolio includes teaching and developing courses and programs at basic, advanced and PhD level (>2500h in total) on topics related to environmental governance and politics, natural resource management and sustainability and supervising >10 bachelor, master and PhD theses. For a more personal reflection on the journey of becoming a scholar in this field, see my research portrait featured in Barents Studies 2(1) (2015) below.
Listed skills include Sustainability, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Research, and 16 others.
