For almost a century, the Röhsska Museum has collected fashion- and design-related artefacts from all over the world. Its exhibitions provide a stunning showcase of design history – with themes as varied as haute couture, Chinese lacquerware, toilet seats and subversive embroidery. It organizes temporary exhibitions, mostly produced outside the museum. The goal is to maintain a high profile and offer a mix of Swedish and international orientation, between art and industrial design and between the experimental and the established. In my role as Head of Action Department, I redefined policy and strategic direction of the museum, emphasizing audience engagement and implemented a new staff structure and culture. To increase funding I introduced innovative sponsorship and fundraising activities. The result of our hard work was soaring visitor numbers from 60,000 to over 100,000 in just two years. The museum played an active role in the international culture scene with exhibitions, festivals, networks, conferences and annually awarding the highest design prize in the world.Created new scheme for social inclusion for community groups (Roma, LGBTQI, intellectual and physically disabilities, refugees) to have access to museum and collaborate with museum staff. Together develop programs and exhibitions. Implemented a programme of adult learning using collections and exhibitions. Also program acclaimed - mixed generation workshops. Regularly held courses/lectures for university -Academy of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg University.Advised university, independent and local council museums on museum education, communication, community programmes and cultural planning.
