Current member of the production team at pharmaceutical company BLES Biochemicals manufacturing the pulmonary surfactant "BLES". Work is conducted in a clean room environment where raw materials are purified, compounded, and completed drug product is filled. Other tasks including glassware washing, sanitation, and environmental monitoring are also conducted by production personnel. I am also heavily involved in health & safety at BLES as a worker rep for the JHSC, training new technicians, and instrument/equipment maintenance and calibrations.

Completed an 8 month work term assisting primary technologists conducting analyses for total organic carbon, chloride, and chlorophyll in aqueous surface, drinking, and ground water samples. I was responsible for all analytical reagents and sample preparation for these methods, as well as setting up and starting the sample run for the day for both TOC and chloride methods. Additional assistance was provided updating and revising the total organic carbon method (high temperature catalytic combustion system) after the new instrument was installed. I completed method validation tests that were organized with guidance from the team group leader. Various other house keeping and assistance with other methods was conducted throughout the 8 month term.

Completed a four month co-op term analyzing water samples for both chloride and true colour in a high volume lab using colourimetric analysis, as well as preparing water samples for analysis. Weekly colourimetry reagents were also made for multiple different methods throughout the laboratory. Also assisted in the trouble shooting of instruments and general upkeep throughout the lab (calibration and washing of glassware, changing of instrument parts, etc.)
