I work for a “tiny but mighty” non-profit that focuses on building wealth and personal opportunity to North Minneapolis and the surrounding metro area through the power of entrepreneurship.I have created, launched and now manage the Northside Food Business Incubator. I developed curriculum and created innovative marketplace opportunities for the incredibly diverse community that I serve. I spend my days digging in and coaching individual business owners to plan, launch and grow their food businesses while at the same time continuously evaluating the impact of my program.I pride my self on my innovative ideas and an eye for opportunity...but I don’t keep all of those ideas to myself....I love to share and collaborate. In 2006 while living in China I had an idea of creating a grocery store that was primarily locally grown and made food. Upon returning to America I started planning out my dream and eventually opening Local D’Lish, an award winning specialty grocery store that featured hundreds of local farmers and food artisans. I was innovative and creative. The store itself was an “incubator” and safe space for budding foodpreneurs to launch and sell their products. We launched several locally made products that have now moved on to national food chains. My staff were incredible and I nurtured an environment of entrepreneurship...as a matter of fact several of my employees went on to open their own businesses. Owning and operating this little store was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I am proud of all of the success, awards and accolades. I developed and implemented a Business English curriculum for senior International Business students. I produced progressive teaching techniques to encourage student critical thinking and discussion. Because of my high level of results with my students, I was invited to train and manage the International Instructor team. Received high remarks for the creativity of instructional techniques from students, parents and faculty. Created interesting social events to encourage English conversation among students.
