About Ann Forstie

In my tenure as the Web Manager at Special Olympics Minnesota, I’ve been responsible for building and maintaining our website (http://somn.org/) as well as creating and implementing social media and email marketing campaigns for both the organization as a whole and our largest and most popular fundraiser, the Polar Plunge. I work extensively with WordPress (including PHP, HTML and CSS coding), Google Analytics, project management tools like Asana, and Adobe Creative Cloud, and I have in-depth experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.As a member of a busy non-profit organization, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many different tasks targeting diverse audiences. I’ve taught social media classes to Special Olympics athletes, coaches and family members; stage managed our Distinguished Service Awards; been an announcer at aquatics competitions; and hung banners at Summer Games. I’m flexible and can work well both independently and as part of a team.Due in part to my BA in English, I’m genuinely passionate about communication and fascinated by the way information is transmitted. I’m interested in all forms of media and figuring out how to best use them to build relationships between organizations and the people they serve. I also love exploring new tools and resources that can support internal and external goals.I have a lot of personal interests. These days I'm really into my vegetable garden and ways to use or preserve the literal fruits of my labor. Here are three words that describe me: Optimistic. Thoughtful. Curious.
