• Development of a "carbon nanotube (CNT) - quantum dot" photovoltaic device for Dept of Energy funded renewable energy project.• Built a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactor to synthesize vertically aligned CNT thin films and deposited light harvesting quantum dots for fabrication of the nano PV device. • Characterized nano-device using atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and photocurrent measurements. • Results published in journal Nano Letters. • Refereed articles for international journals: Small, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.

• Investigated Raman and near-infrared absorption spectroscopy of single-walled carbon nanotubes with nitrene based functionalization.• Investigated the temperature dependence of optical absorption for semiconductor CNTs using NIR absorption spectroscopy, thermogravimetry (TGA) and Origin software. • Played a major role in purchasing optical equipment and building customized Raman spectroscopy set up at the Nanoscience Center in University of Jyväskylä.• Key team member in a project on equipment fabrication and measurement of first ever Raman spectra of nanocrystalline nitrogen-helium solids, revealing its structure and thermal properties

• Formulation of surfactant aided colloidal inks from semiconductor single-walled carbon nanotubes. • Investigation of their electronic properties & exciton excursion range with near-infrared fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy.• Developed algorithm and analyzed large data sets using Winspec, MATLAB and SigmaPlot.• Demonstrated the dependence of exciton mobility and excursion range on CNT’s chemical environment and structure.• Authored 3 publications. Two published in top ranking journal Nano Letters.
