I love B2B marketing because it presents endless opportunity to make the complex seem simple. Through cross-functional communication, investigative curiosity, and an obsession with understanding your customer, I can pinpoint the story amidst the technical jargon and generic corporate fluff, and communicate that story in a way that sticks.Once I’ve learned the ins and outs of a complicated problem or process, if I can distill the essence of why and how it must be solved in a sentence or a concept or a metaphor—to me, this feels like hitting the jackpot. I started Queen Palm Media with my best friend (I’ll always love getting to say that). After working in sales and marketing at software companies for a decade, we’d gotten pretty good at quickly grasping what problem a software solution solves and for whom, and then translating that value into compelling messaging and marketing content. We were seeing the opposite happen in enterprise software. Rapid change means more turnover, and the time and resources required to get new marketing employees or an agency up to speed was simply too long. In short, software companies are changing faster, but marketing stays the same speed (best if imagined in Matthew McConaughey’s voice circa Dazed & Confused). We saw the value we could offer our niche: we’re already up to speed on the right verbiage, we know the players, and we can make shit happen quickly (by ‘shit’, I mean fulfill the need for targeted, strategic and effective communications and campaigns). www.queenpalmmedia.com
