A large proportion of my work involves extracting data from large databases, conducting statistical analyses and production of statistical bulletins. These bulletins provide an important avenue for dissemination of mortality statistics to the wider world in order to help inform better decision making.

During my PhD I investigated the link between the neurotransmitter gamma amino-butyric acid (GABA) and individual differences in alcohol-induced disinhibtion. The aim of this project was to try and better understand the reasons why some individuals may go on to develop a problem with alcohol use whereas others would not. I conducted a study investigating the alcohol-related changes in brainwave oscillations in the gamma band frequency (thought to be associated with GABAergic activity) using magnetoencephalography (MEG). I also investigated whether impairments to behavioural control whilst intoxicated can be predicted by underlying concentrations of GABA in the brain. I completed an MSc in Neuropsychology and obtained a distinction. I received the award for the highest mark in a research project. My research involved the investigation of neurological correlates of verbal memory deficits in patients who had sustained a traumatic brain injury during their childhood.

I supported adults who had sustained mild to moderate head injuries. I aided in cognitive and physical activities such as board games, sports activities and cooking sessions.

Marketing Internship supported by University of Bristol- Competitor Analysis: I was tasked with checking regularly for updates on competing websites and the adverts they had successfully secured- Google Analytics: I analysed the data given by google analytics and monitored the number of webpage visits per day, where these came from and which pages visitors spent most time on- Search Engine Optimisation: I devised a list of words and search terms that were needed to improve the SEO of the website and where we ranked in google search results for a number of searches- Conference Attendance: I had the oppotunity to attend a green transport conference in Earl's Court London, for which I designed and ordered car window stickers to give away as promotional products.
