I was eight years old when I got my first video camera. It was a small white Panasonic, and the second my dad placed it in my hands, I knew this was it. My reason.I filmed everything. Toys and family members. Christmas tree trimmings and birthday parties. But mostly, I made movies. First, they involved dolls. I would find ways to make them move without seeing my hand, engineering plots in my head that made little sense to anyone but me. But I was eight, and the fun was in the playing. In my tweens, I graduated from dolls to legos, discovering the magic of stop motion. For hours on end, my sister and I moved the little figurines one frame at a time. We then posted the end products on our Youtube channel with its thirteen subscribers, feeling that sense of accomplishment that comes with pressing the upload button. When I was fourteen and had grown out of toys, I started asking my friends to star in my productions. Enhanced with cheesy green screen effects and dramatic royalty-free music, I edited my friends into weather forecasts, Jurassic jungles, or apocalyptic cities. iMovie had everything I needed to create anything—the opportunities were endless. And now, although I use fewer effects (and even fewer toys), the love I’ve always had for videography remains, and has even broadened to a love of anything media. I like to think that the child-like perspective that started everything has not left me, and will continue to influence my work.Clifton strengths: Empathy, Includer, Woo, Positivity, Consistency

Video Production InternPioneers May 2022 - Jul 2022I was able to join the PIONEERS marketing team as an unpaid, video production intern for three months. Accepting and fulfilling this temporary position meant flying out to Florida, living with strangers, and depending on others for transportation for three months. Through the process, I learned how to find independence in my dependence. The internship itself provided me with a plethora of skills related to both video production and the corporate field. I learned how to use lighting and sound to enhance video, I learned how to set up gear I hadn’t heard of before, and I learned how to interact with people in interview-style interactions. I learned how to work on a marketing team, I pitched ideas and accepted criticism, and overall grew as future employee. -
