I was brought on by the Senior Women’s Woven Tops/Skirts/Dresses Designer to assist on-site with fittings, tech packs, presentation boards, lab dip/print test approvals, and to help manage the physical and digital sample and fabric libraries. I loved working closely with our Merchandising and Product Development partners, and later gained more oversight working directly with BRFS’ Head of Design during the transition and addition of new leadership throughout the Design Department. I was able to learn two PLM systems and add Miro and SmartSheets to my collaborative toolkit. My general responsibilities included the following:- Studied global trends and markets to discover new fabrics, materials, techniques, and inspiration/design references.- Contributed to new concepts and sketches for seasonal product lines.- Advocated for design aesthetic through presentations to internal leadership and CFT.- Partnered closely with PD, Merchandising, VM, Marketing, Sourcing, and Tech to deliver products that not only meet customer expectations but surprise and delight them.- Attended fit sessions and follow up with CFT to keep information accurate and up-to-date.

As Lead Designer I was able to work directly with brides at our local SF showroom, a second location in LA on Melrose, and with brides at pop-ups around the country including DC and NYC. It was a great opportunity to earn a bride's trust and have them take the leap of faith to order something they aren't able to try on or even see photos of. Some of my regular tasks are outlined below:- Conducted holistic market research including those adjacent to bridal to track innovations, trends and the competitive landscape.- Developed a strong design team by setting overall concept and tone as a jumping off point for collaborative critiques, allowing designers to develop new skills and test out ideas.- Advocated for design perspective with production partners through prioritization, problem-solving, and compromise.- Created training guides that adapt with new platforms and technology.- Managed production with overseas partners and created a central workflow that reduced errors and increased production capacity by centralizing communications and automating data entry.- Partnered with overseas technical design and production teams to ensure overall vision for design and quality is achieved on time and on budget.
