Annie King Email and Phone Number
I am a Northern Community Engagement Specialist and Research Associate who prioritizes building personal relationships and fostering shared cultural understanding. I received my MA in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies from the University of Northern BC. My thesis investigated Imperial Oil's consultation and engagement of Sahtú Dene and Métis people over the lifespan of the Norman Wells Oilfield. Now, after 3 years of fieldwork and engagement with Sahtú communities in the NWT, I am developing guidelines for resource extraction proponents to conduct appropriate community engagement with the Sahtú Dene and Métis people. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Regina with a BA in Environmental Studies with Great Distinction and an International Designation. I am a human geographer and complimented my degree with minors in both French and Sociology. I studied in La Réunion, and have traveled extensively through southern Africa, southeast Asia, Canada, and western Europe.NSERC and SSHRC Scholar • Northern Researcher • Bilingual • Settler
