About Annie Mitchell

I have been employed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept for 43+ years and 2018 marks retirement! I have been a dispatcher, Crime & Intelligence Analyst, and will retire as a Supervising Crime Analyst. The LASD Crime Analysis Program has 70 analyst working in intelligence, station assignments, and HQ Detective Units. I have been the training coordinator for the past 10 years. In addition, I am an advanced California POST Instructor and developed the current 40 hour POST Certified Crime & Intelligence Analysis class. I have been the president of the Southern California Crime Analysts Association (SCCIAA) and currently am on the Executive Board as the VP of Administration for the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA).I provide instruction and consulting in Crime Analysis, particularly foundations and setting up effective analytical units. I have done a number of presentations for law enforcement organizations that cover In-Progress Tactical Analysis, Best Practices for Effective Crime Analysis, Interview Techniques, and Strategic Analysis.

I am happily retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) after working 43+ years at a number of assignments - Intermediate Stenographer, Sheriff's Dispatcher, Crime Analyst, Supervising Crime Analyst and Training Coordinator with the outstanding LASD Crime Analysis Unit. I am passionate about crime and intelligence analysis and have watched it's exponential growth from my beginnings in 1987 to present. I am still very involved with training and consulting within the field, from the basic foundations needed to today's technological advances and their application in law enforcement.I am the co-founder of OnPoint Analytics which offers a number of training and technical assistance to agencies throughout the United States and Internationally.
