I love problems. Over the years, I've realized that problems are one of the best ways to learn. When something works the way it's supposed to, it's easy to understand, but much more difficult to internalize that knowledge. On the other hand, when something is broken and I have to fix it, I end up with a much stronger understanding of why it works in the first place.Explaining the solutions to problems can unfortunately be much more complicated. I have four years of experience working at a technology help desk. The statement "most computer problems originate between the keyboard and chair" is something I am deeply familiar with. Fixing problems only goes so far when the problem at hand is explaining computers to the computer illiterate.I have handled everything from connecting printers, to troubleshooting programs I had never heard of, to explaining how to open a new tab in Google Chrome. Honestly, I love solving basic problems. If I can explain computers to a self-proclaimed luddite, I can trust that I really understand what I'm talking about, without needing to hide behind technical terms and fancy lingo.I no longer work at a tech help desk, but I try to keep what I learned there in mind when I'm working creating programs people will have to use. How would I explain what I'm doing (and trying to do) in basic terms? What is the most straightforward solution? Is there a simpler way to do this?Right now, I'm most comfortable working with Salesforce Lightning, Apex and Python, but I'm looking forward to problem-solving a deeper understanding of other languages in the future!

Summer Salesforce InternGoshen College May 2020 - Aug 2020Goshen, In, UsWhile working on the Salesforce onboarding, I gained a deeper understanding of the process involved in developing the programs, as well as specific knowledge in Salesforce. I was responsible for both individual and team projects and developed my skills in working with Salesforce and GitHub, as well as explaining my work to others both familiar and unfamiliar with Salesforce programming.My second summer working in this role, I took on an unofficial leadership position as the only person who had worked the previous summer. I helped teach other interns the basics of our specific group and recommended which Trailhead training modules would teach them the information they would need for a project.I was personally involved in migrating the Student Life and IT Helpdesk pages to the Goshen College Salesforce page. We replicated websites, wrote flows, processes, and programs, and created various objects and fields in order to meet the requests of representatives from each department. -

I have experience handling both simple and complex technology questions, whether that means connecting a printer, figuring out a program I've never used before, or knowing the right person to handle a specific complex problem. -
