I foster connections with community organizations serving nursing center residents and I collaborate with activity departments to create and manage volunteer initiatives.

A Heart to Serve offers residents of nursing homes the opportunity to volunteer on teams that give back to their communities. In 2016, Rockport Healthcare Services was the first organization to involve every nursing home in fulfilling community service through A Heart to Serve – so that every resident and patient, including people who have physical and cognitive challenges, such as dementia, stroke, MS, Parkinson’s disease, or vision impairment, can experience the transformative power of purpose through serving meals to the homeless.

Manages all elements of volunteering. Assesses PATH San Diego’s needs through the recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers. Oversees the activities of the meal service program. Coordinates with the kitchen staff, volunteers and several local donation sources to serve 6,000 meals on a monthly basis to over a hundred PATH San Diego residents.

The Mental Health Education Program Manager addresses what mental health challenges are and discusses with local business owners tools to decrease stereotypes and stigma in the workplace. By increasing this awareness throughout the San Diego community it will in turn increase employment opportunities for individuals with Serious Mental Illness. Work gives people hope, structure and purpose and can be a critical dimension of recovery. However, for those affected with Serious Mental Illnesses (SMI), finding job opportunities that are both meaningful and offer competitive wages is challenging. The primary purpose of this program is to educate business owners about their positive return on investment when they create a mentally healthy workplace. We aim to increasing the quality of opportunities to include better outcomes for persons with SMI, and fostering partnerships with San Diego businesses and employment programs.

I oversaw the Business Office for all freshman and sophomore on campus housing. We were responsible for all financial aid payments and helped keep students living on campus out of trouble!

Traveled to Taiwan, Thailand, and Chongquing China to teach English for students ranging from 8 to 18 years old. I taught at a high school in Taiwan and a summer camp in a remote area in China. Learning about different cultures, different urban landscapes and very different languages always reminds me of the similarities throughout the human race. Plus, I love learning about a culture through its food! Yum!
