After I closed my glass business in 2015, in 2016 I took a temporary seasonal job with United Parcel Service as a driver's assistant to try and see what it's like at the entry level. Of course I knew shipping and packing from Nourot Glass Studio but my experience taught me some of the challenges young people face working their first job. It also earned me my first paycheck written by someone other than me in 42 years!I am interested in finding new challenges for me. After all three of the four drivers I worked with said without prompting; "You're good! You are like working with a supervisor!"Perhaps there is a need for someone like me in your business. The rest of this profile details my art career as owner of a glass making studio since 1974!As an entrepreneur in American Crafts; I created all kinds of hand blown glass works entirely by hand. I ran a gallery for decades with my husband and partner, Micheal Nourot.We were glass makers " to Popes and US presidents." Trademarks owned: "Benician Glass"; "Glass Blowers on the Waterfront". Nourot Glass Retail gallerywas open from 1987. Knowledgeable about the manufacturing industry and managing young people. I was many times on a national jury for selection of exhibitors to one of the most prestigious shows in industry. TV and radio interviews were a specialty. Featured in a 30 min feature "Alchemy in Light" that was shown in 135 countries on the National Geographic Channel in 1995--1999. I enjoyed big name customers like the Vatican, US Department of State, Lockheed, USAF, US Navy, Clorox, Oracle, Bio_Rad Laboratories and others. My son Nicholas Nourot runs an off shoot called Nourot Art Glass. I am proud to see him make a whole new business of our family tradition. He continues the awards business division and custom lighting for restaurants and other architectural uses, as well as making some of the same style glass work from Nourot Glass.
