1. Mermaid swimming. Tales of mermaids have been around since the ancient times. It especially gained popularity in recent years, with numerous stories depicted in cinema and television. To safely enjoy mermaid swimming, one must know what happens to the body when diving below the surface and keep in mind the Rules for Safe Swimming at all times. This includes knowledge of pressure and depth, water's effect on the body, equalization, buddy swimming, not descending for more than 5 meters, checking equipment before use, bringing flotation device, not holding breath for too long, practicing and repeating skills, staying physically fit, swimming within one's limits and not swimming if sick.2. Mermaid equipment. This include identifying mermaid equipment which are monofin, tail and goggles or masks. Equipment care is also taught in this part. 3. Surface procedures. Topic includes buoyancy, back float, back glide, buddy tow, cramp removal, proper breathing and recovery breathing.4. Mermaid skills. Skills to be developed are putting on mermaid equipment, controlled seated entry, duck dive, equalization, dolphin kick and exiting the water.5. Open water activities. To be able to do safe open water swimming, the student should be able to have a good grasp on weather conditions, location and environment, water conditions, temperature and visibility, entry point, shore entry technique, surface market safety buoy, boat entry and post-swim action.6.
