As an Indigenous women from Wendake (Qc), I also have an interest in understanding the intersection between gender, sexuality and indigenous identity and develop culturally appropriate practices to work with indigenous young people.I also develop and apply anti-oppressive and decolinisation approaches and methodologies to facilitate change and challenge inequalities. Those approaches are anchored both in my lived and work experiences as well as in my PhD research (Ethics and social work, De Montfort University, UK, 2007) and my undergraduate social work degree which a strong focus on groupwork (Université Laval, Quebec). Trough applying a range of emancipation methodologies I have successfully facilitated the development of initiatives and strategies ranging from the creation of community organization, to the mobilisation of community groups toward legislative changes in the province of Quebec. I also draw from those approaches and methodologies for managing the institutional projects I take on, insuring not only full stakeholders participation but also meaningful changes.
