I am full Professor of Social Work at the University of Montreal and Canada Research Chair (tier1) on partnership research and empowerment of vulnerable youth (previously CRC transgender children and their families) I am also co-founder and current codirector of CRI-JaDE, the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Intersectional Justice, Decolonization and Equity which brings together community and Institutional partners, over 40 researchers and their students. As the Director of the Quebec FQRSC funded Research Team on Trans Youth and their Families, I also lead the development of synergies and collaborations between 18 researchers invested in this topic, their students and community partners. I have a strong track record of empirical research which informs my understanding of social, structural and institutional inequalities faced by vuberabilized populations such as racialized and migrant people, sexual and gender minorities youth, and indigenous communities. Currently, I am the principal investigator of a Humanities Research Council funded project - (De)trans discourse, one of the first study to examine discontinued gender journey among youth (sometimes referred to as 'detransition') as well as a Canadian Institute for Health Research's international project, "Growing up trans" which trace longitudinally the experiences of children and youth who wish to access gender affirming medical care in Canada, USA, England, Australia, India and Switzerland. As an Indigenous women from Wendake (Qc), I also have an interest in understanding the intersection between gender, sexuality and indigenous identity and develop culturally appropriate practices to work with indigenous young people.I also develop and apply anti-oppressive and decolinisation approaches and methodologies to facilitate change and challenge inequalities. Those approaches are anchored both in my lived and work experiences as well as in my PhD research (Ethics and social work, De Montfort University, UK, 2007) and my undergraduate social work degree which a strong focus on groupwork (Université Laval, Quebec). Trough applying a range of emancipation methodologies I have successfully facilitated the development of initiatives and strategies ranging from the creation of community organization, to the mobilisation of community groups toward legislative changes in the province of Quebec. I also draw from those approaches and methodologies for managing the institutional projects I take on, insuring not only full stakeholders participation but also meaningful changes.
