Annie has over 18 years of experience in environmental communications, marketing and policy. She currently serves as Director of Communications and Marketing at Strategic Ocean Solutions, where she leads the development of comprehensive environmental communications strategies and public relations campaigns for clients in the non-profit, government, scientific and private sectors.During her career, Annie has consulted for numerous clients throughout the Continental U.S. and Hawaii. She taught a graduate-level course in science communications at the University of Miami as well as numerous science communications workshops throughout the U.S.From 2008 – 2010, Annie managed the communications and media campaign for the California Marine Life Protection Act Initiative to support the implementation of the world’s first coastal network of marine protected areas, located along the state’s 1,100-mile coastline. She has worked for two of the world’s leading scientific research institutions - Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. While at Scripps, she co-managed the communications campaign for the highly publicized Seaplex voyage, a three-week scientific expedition to study marine debris in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.She holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in marine biology from the University of Miami and a Master's degree in ocean policy and natural resource management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
