Annie Werner is a Real Estate Agent at Houseworks Collective of KW. She possess expertise in gender studies, spanish speaking, outdoor education, communication, community outreach and 13 more skills. Colleagues describe her as "Annie and I are both in leadership roles for the local chapter of CreativeMornings, a free lecture series for the creative community. This labor of love takes a great deal of time, strategy and strong communication to manage all operations (venues, speakers, volunteers and more) – and Annie is at the helm of all of it. Her key responsibilities include recruiting and managing our team of volunteer organizers, overseeing execution of monthly events and curating financial and in-kind sponsorship partners. She is a deeply trusted connector and community organizer who amplifies people’s voices in a way I've never seen before. For context, we reawakened the CreativeMornings/Milwaukee chapter in January, and every event has maxed out capacity (100+ attendees) since. She handles every single relationship with care, creates thoughtful talking points and ensures that our PowerPoint presentation is flawless every month. Annie also works very closely with our social media manager to ensure that we share strong bios and professional portraits for all our speakers, so we can tell their story authentically. Not to mention, Annie effortlessly charms audiences on stage as host, spotlighting our speakers with captivating storytelling. Prior to CreativeMornings, Annie led design recruiting efforts in tech, at both Adobe and Microsoft. She thrives in corporate settings and is a natural visionary when it comes to strategy. Not only is she incredibly organized, reliable and ambitious…Annie also proactively seeks opportunities to improve and evolve. She would work wonders for any team lucky enough to have her. Can't recommend this bright star enough!", "Annie and I worked together when I was managing/hiring a content design team at Adobe! She was one of the most highly collaborative talent partners I've ever worked with — super communicative, passionate, caring, and yet great at objectively measuring talent. I developed a lot of trust in her very quickly — she always followed through, and I knew that when she communicated with candidates, she'd represent me and the company with aplomb and grace. I absolutely trusted her judgement and during the offer stage with a candidate, knew that she'd navigate that negotiation with the candidate's best interest in mind while representing the company. And on top of that, she's a lot of fun to work with! I'd work with Annie again in a heartbeat if I had the chance.", and "I’ve had the pleasure of working with Annie on the same talent team at Adobe. Annie has an innate ability for connecting people, seeing potential in others, and inspiring everyone around her to be their best. Not only is she an expert in design recruiting, but she is also a natural born leader in the work that she does. She genuinely wants to see others succeed and does everything in her power to help them get there. From her infectious positive attitude to her empathy and enthusiasm for everyone she works with, it's no secret why she's so great at what she does. I’ve learned so much from her in such a short amount of time and feel eternally grateful that she is in my orbit."

VolunteerOperation Groundswell Jun 2014 - Aug 2014When I graduated college I had this itch to get out of the books and on the ground to make the world a safer, cleaner, happier place. I also wanted to get out of my comfort zone and travel to a new country. I also knew I didn't want to copy & paste Western values and "solutions" onto another culture. I loved Groundswell because they, a Canadian-based NGO, let the communities they serve dictate what needs care and how it should be done. The volunteers are simply providing extra hands and financial resources. I spent the summer in Peru. My favorite volunteer project took place on an organic farm in the remote village of Maska, situated in a cozy corner of the Andes. The family that lives there has lived on the land since the Inca Empire and their space now serves as a conservatory for ancient grains and seeds, a school of traditional and organic agricultural practices, and a place to practice traditional Andean medicine. This was a very formative summer for me and a solid kick-off into the "real world" post-school. Also the ceviche and pisco sours alone were worth writing home about. -
Social Media InternProject Girl Sep 2013 - May 2014Oregon, Wisconin, Us[College internship] Helped middle school girls become critical consumers of mass media advertising and entertainment. Communications & Development InternWrtp/Big Step Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership Jun 2013 - Aug 2013Milwaukee, Wi, Us[College summer internship] Same organization as the summer prior, but with more responsibility. A bit about the org: Systemic racism limits peoples ability to earn a family-supporting income. Big Step helps people (primarily directly affected by racist policies) get back on their feet and into the workforce again. This may be through job training, job placement, group counseling services, or helping people obtain their drivers license. My job: I conducted interviews with people who successfully graduated from the Big Step program. With their permission, I then wrote their stories and published them in our 2012 Annual Report to encourage our donors to keep donating. -
Teaching AssistantLiteracy Network Jan 2013 - May 2013Madison, Wi, Us[College semester volunteering] Volunteered at Madison Area Technical College as an English Language teacher to adults in the Madison community. I met a lot of the line chefs who worked at the restaurants on State Street and cleaners who kept the buildings on campus shiny. This job instilled in me humility and a passion for teaching. -

Lots of friendship bracelets and sunsets. One of my favorite summers. -
Office InternWrtp/Big Step Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership May 2012 - Jun 2012Milwaukee, Wi, Us[College internship] My first internship in which I literally fetched coffee for my boss and organized the office file cabinets. At the time, it was a dream come true.
