I lead Residential Retrofits for Energy Equity, which aims to scale up building retrofits of low- and moderate-income housing, leveraging technical assistance to local communities to drive policy and program innovation that achieves GHG reduction, racial equity, economic development, and health goals.

I worked with state and local partners from across the Midwest to make multifamily housing healthy and affordable through energy and water efficiency and solar as part of the Energy Efficiency for All initiative (www.ee4a.org). I built coalitions, engaged stakeholders from many sectors to generate solutions, ensured best practice sharing across the region, and was responsible for developing and executing our regional advocacy strategy for robust utility programs and housing and utility regulatory policy change. Over 8 years, the work I led, including direct intervention and testimony in utility filings, resulted in over $210 million in additional funding for energy efficiency in affordable multifamily homes in the Midwest.

I had primary responsibility for the Alliance to Save Energy's outreach to city-owned utilities, including budgeting, grant-writing, and reporting. As a primary focus of my outreach I facilitated peer exchange, decision-making, and joint projects for a working group of energy efficiency program managers from many of the nation's largest city-owned utilities.

I produced an in-depth policy analysis report that answers two central questions: (1) Is a local carbon fund a viable option for the City of Cambridge, and (2) If it is viable, which program design options will maximize its success? The report draws on best practices reported by 19 existing local carbon funds, precedent from state laws and regulations, and indications of market demand from interviews with 12 businesses identified as potential purchasers of local carbon offsets.

I produced two working papers on policy solutions (benchmarking as well as other regulatory avenues) to improve energy efficiency in Minnesota's rental housing stock. As a participant in two energy efficiency working groups, I worked alongside diverse stakeholders to generate collaborative solutions to achieve high energy savings among low-income and rental-sector utility customers (Minnesota Environmental Initiative 1.5% Energy Efficiency Solutions Project and MinnCAP Rental Housing Energy Efficiency Work Group).

I assisted with real estate development and asset management activities, including tracking schedules and funding checklists for The Wellstone, a Minnesota Green Communities development (similar to LEED). I managed procurement processes for multifamily construction rehabilitation projects, which included issuing RFPs and working with contractors. I also worked on marketing and grant-writing, and managed volunteers for a neighborhood event with over 1,500 attendees.
