Keen to continue as an intern throughout the year!

This role in the Highways Team introduced me to the many avenues that can be pursued in civil engineering. Alongside the team of civil engineers, designers, and drafters I was able to be involved in a variety of projects. With a main interest in roads and paths and the collaboration of various teams, I had the opportunity to be a part of drainage design, signage and design reports. Furthermore, I developed skills in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and had exposure to OpenRoads, 12D and QGIS.

To this day, this job challenges me in new and exciting ways. Whether it be improving my customer service skills, efficiency, time management when juggling many coffee orders, I am still eager to learn new techniques and new ways of accomplishing things. I love this job as I get to express my artistic side through latte art, as well as develop friendships and bonds with customers and my team members.

I had the opportunity to participate in BHP's First Year Internship and learn from so many experts and amazing people within. This internship helped ignite my passion for the resource industry and learn more about BHP's assets, careers, and people. I was lucky enough to have this opportunity, and I look forward to applying my experiences to my degree.

Beginning my work journey with KFC helped me develop useful skills early on in life. I learned the importance of teamwork by copiously working with my fellow team members, communication, leadership, time management, and customer service. With these skills, I am able to apply them to everyday experiences and continuously use them throughout my work now.
