Ann wrote a letter to President Ronald Reagan. A meeting was held in DC, 2 Presidential liaisons, Department of Health and Human Services, several from the FDA and 3 attorneys Ann brought on behalf of Karlberg European TanSpa, Inc., in all 19 people. Within a week, embargo was lifted. Ann spent $585,000 to retro-fit thousands of sunbeds and sunlamps to be compliant.The retro-fit led to other problems. The company had record sales the prior year and $600,000 was due IRS. After completion of the retro-fit, only $200,000 was available for IRS, short $411,000. An Offer in Compromise was struck with IRS. Meanwhile the German mfg.breached the import contract and opened an office in York, PA. Ann fought back and filed suit in Bonn. Took it to German Federal Supreme Court and lost. Following the loss in Germany, Ann filed in Federal Court in Rockford, IL. and settled out of court.Ann thrives on the tremendous satisfaction of mentoring others and helping them to avoid the many "landmines" of starting your own business with little or no experience.
