CurrentAnn Toran, is a native New Yorker, born in Manhattan, who made Pilates her career after reaping its benefits as an injured ballet dancer. In 1980, Ann sustained a major back injury while performing with The Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, Croatia, which was considered career-threatening. She became a Pilates devotee after experiencing its effectiveness in both her rehabilitation and her improved fitness. Thanks to the Pilates Method she not only performed again but was subsequently promoted to Soloist!Ann and her husband, Chiropractor Errol Toran, have dedicated themselves to making the Pilates reformer affordable and available to everyone at their New York City locations.Ann is NCPT Certified and continues to further her Pilates education by regularly attending several conferences annually. Ann completed the Pilates Master Mentor Program with Pilates Elder Lolita San Miguel in November of 2011 and is now considered a Second Generation Pilates teacher. She was first certified by Polestar Pilates in the Reformer, Mat and Studio (all apparatus) certifications. After teaching for Polestar Pilates, Ann joined Balanced Body in 2008 as a Balanced Body Master Instructor and currently conducts Pilates Teacher Training at her Pilates Reforming New York Authorized Training Center.Ann feels the ultimate honor and challenge is developing and inspiring the next generation of Pilates teachers. Ann considers herself an ambassador of Pilates, enthusiastically traveling internationally to share her Pilates passion. Ann is thrilled to have taught in many countries including Lausanne, Switzerland; London, England; Valencia, Spain; Florence, Italy; Hong Kong; Prague, Czech Republic; Rio Janeiro, Brazil; Seoul, South Korea; Moscow, Russia; Istanbul, Turkey; Belgrade, Serbia and Mumbai, India - where she was the first Balanced Body teacher invited to train Pilates teachers; and Monchengladbach, Germany - where the first Pilates Day under Lolita San Miguel was held in May 2011.
