Ann Carpenter is dedicated to building and fostering the global Blue Economy. She serves as an advisor to deep tech entrepreneurs in industries including ocean/maritime, transportation and goods movement, energy, and biotech. She brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic planning, marketing, business development, and community outreach in corporate and nonprofit organizations. As co-founder and CEO of Braid Theory, Ann is responsible for strategic partnership building with public entities such as ports and utility agencies, and private industry. Braid Theory, a vertically integrated venture advisory, provides end-to-end services to support science and engineering-led companies. The firm incorporates a hybrid model of services to assist startups and scaleups based on proven methodology and rigor in evidence-based entrepreneurship, focused on three key aspects of commercialization: capability, capacity, and intellectual capital.

Innofuse Blue brings together global best practices from the blue economy and entrepreneur supporting innovation programs, connecting with the blue business community providing opportunities to scale. We are committed to engaging the global ecosystem to lead blue and sustainable innovation projects in Portugal and beyond.

As a private sector ambassador to the District, I will be reaching out to tech entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders to continue to build the LA Harbor area Innovation Cluster. With AltaSea and the largest port complex in North America as catalysts, Braid Theory will work to bring new businesses, new industries, and new technologies to the LA Waterfront. As Councilmember Joe Buscaino stated in the 2019 State of the District speech, "As cofounder and CEO of Braid Theory, [Ann Carpenter] has been so instrumental in attracting the tech sector to the LA waterfront. This is why we wanted to formalize a role for her within the city’s efforts."

First hired as a software programmer for Lockheed California Company, eventually transferring to the corporate headquarters. As part of the executive team for the Information Systems Group, responsible for the acquisition of software and services companies as part of Lockheed's strategic initiative to diversify into commercial software and service businesses.
