Oversaw financial function for two operating companies, one company in the process of being shut down, and two investment-only companies. Built a monthly reporting schedule and budget variance reporting for their first budget ever. Built tools for managers such as budget variance reports, OT and time-off reports, and new employee checklists. This company had also recently hit the 50+ employee mark, so needed to ensure compliance with labor laws. Worked with nursing manager to institute a drug inventory procedure. Phoenix Asset Management (“PAM”) is an REO asset management company which sells foreclosed homes for the benefit of its clients, mortgage lenders. In 2008, PAM experienced sudden growth that tripled its size and employee base. It needed a strong controller to help guide it with streamlining payroll and commissions, get compliant with regulations for a company with more than 50 employees, establish a process for efficient revenue recording and accounts receivable collections, make timely AP payments, establish a month end closing framework and review, and create and publish monthly financial reports and analysis. HIred as Senior Accountant, but promoted within 6 months of hire.EPS is an insurance consulting brokerage specializing in the sales of annuities used to fund structured settlements. In 1999, EPS was formed from the merger of three companies with differing cultures and about 90 employees in 15 states. It has seen three ownership changes and its parent company expanded ownership to a total of seven companies. Today, EPS alone has 165 employees in 23 states with net revenues in excess of $28 million.Managed the Accounting department and a staff of 6: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting, Cash Management, Budgeting, Tax Reporting and Planning, Financial Analysis, and System Administration and Training. Led the accounting aspects of Payroll and Benefit administration and implementing new Employee Benefit Plans. Converted General Ledger systems; in the process redesigned the chart of accounts to accommodate growth and a multi-company environment. Implemented the subsequent ledger conversion for 5 sister companies.

Exempla Healthcare was a newly created entity providing the full continuum of medical service by combining 34 private doctor practices with two full service hospitals. Began as a temporary assignment to help the new organization with its budget and they created a permanent position for me. Responsibilities included account reconciliations, budget, financial reporting and analysis.

Life Partners Group was a life insurance holding company that sold a diverse portfolio of universal life and annuity products. Life Partners Group was acquired by Conseco, Inc. in August, 1996 and relocated to Carmel, Indiana. Increasing and diverse responsibilities included financial reporting, budget preparation, department administration, staff management, life policy administrative system and general ledger conversions, and productivity enhancement.
