My professor at Auburn said that most of us Journalism majors wouldn't actually go into the field. He was right in my case, but I still love journalism and write as often as I can.I've worked at Jackson Street since 2005 and have absolutely loved, if not every minute, at least most of them. I work with such dedicated, compassionate, and, let's face it, the most fun and funny staff and board members imaginable. Making a difference in the lives of youth has made my life better and hopefully made me a better person. At first, I really found my feet with business and people management, strategic and long-term planning, marketing, and customer service at Hewlett-Packard and learned so much from my bosses, co-workers, and staff. I still use the knowledge I learned there, and I enjoyed the dozen years I spent working in Express Service for the Americas as its growth was exploding. What a fun ride!In between, I took a break for a few years and hung out with my kids while they were still very little. I read to them so much that all three want to be writers and as incredibly creative creatures and former Waldorf students, they will, no doubt, be awesome at it. There is still a lot I would like to do in the world -- not sure where to start-- but I'm sure I will find it... or it will find me.
