The mission of CAL PIA is to support the CDCR public safety mission. It is an inmate work program that provides productive job opportunities for inmates to learn job skills, good work habits, basic education and job support so that when they parole, they never return to prison. CAL PIA work assignments support prison safety, help reduce violence, reimburse victims, provide productive activity, and produce quality products and services. At 26 prisons about 6,000 inmates have work assignments in various industries including flags, clothing, printing, optical, furniture, license plates, food, coffee, waste recycling and much more. We offer over 1400 products and a wide array of services to state and public agencies.
