My name is Anouk Eman and I was born on April 4, 1992 on the beautiful island of Aruba. After having graduated from High School in Aruba, I was awarded a scholarship to attend Lindenwood University in St. Charles Missouri as a result of both my outstanding academic achievements and my excellence in synchronized swimming. I have also had the honor of representing my island Aruba in the 2016 Pre-Olympics in Brazil.At Lindenwood University I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and subsequently followed up with a Masters in Early Intervention in Autism and Sensory Impairments. The reason that I choose Education with an emphasis in Early Intervention in Autism for my master studies was because no one in Aruba has ever specialized in this particular subject or intervened in the necessities of the unfortunate children from my country. There is a group of young infants and children who urgently need somebody who is specialized to guide them in order for them to be able to achieve a better lifestyle. Working as the Project Manager of Early Intervention at the "Departamento di Mucha y Hoben", I am proud to say that I've implemented Aruba's first Early Intervention System within the Child Care Centers.As for my modeling career, in 2017, I was approached by the founder of the Miss Aruba beauty pageant, at which time I was asked to enter the pageant. Notably, this pageant was set to take place just ten months after my scoliosis surgery, a serious spine condition I was diagnosed with during my early teenage years. At first, I was extremely reluctant to compete in the pageant primarily due to the large scar running down my spine. Nevertheless, I used this opportunity to be an example for men, women and the young generation who, despite their physical imperfections, embrace it.At the 2017 Miss Aruba pageant, I won the Miss World Aruba title and in 2018 I was nominated by the Miss International Aruba organization. Both these experiences were amazing experiences that opened many doors for me in the modeling industry. I have walked the runway both nationally and internationally and appeared in countless billboards and print advertisements. Additionally, I’ve appeared on video commercials (both on television and social media) for companies in differentiating industries, e.g.: retail clothing stores, jewelry stores, telecommunication company, hotels, casinos, spas, bars and restaurants. Having 24 screws in my spine and the huge scar on my back is my badge of courage, the proof that we can rise and shine despite any physical and emotional hurdles.
