The project includes the following five studies: • Study on the cost-effectiveness of adult hearing screening using a Markov model with cohort simulation and probabilistic Monte Carlo sensitivity analysis. I built a Markov model in Microsoft Excel based on data that was available from national registries and from the scientific and non-scientific literature. I used the model to examine the cost-effectiveness of several screening scenarios.• Epidemiological study on predictors of hearing acuity to identify potential target groups for high risk group screening. I was responsible for the analysis of the cross-sectional and longitudinal data using ordinary least-square and mixed-model regression in SPSS.• Study on the costs and effects of a hearing screening and rehabilitation program in residential care homes. I was responsible for the calculation of the costs and for the evaluation of the effects. • Qualitative study on the impact of a positive hearing screening result on adults without hearing complaints. I designed the study, recruited the participants in cooperation with hearing aid dispensers, conducted the interviews, and analyzed the interviews thematically.• Qualitative study on hearing aid non-use. I analyzed the interviews thematically. Furthermore, I was responsible for supervising a student who carried out this study, and for training her in interview techniques and thematic analysis.
