As senior technician, I was ultimately responsible for lab operations in projects, process planning, and developing creative solutions based on scientific literature. My role included designing, preparing, conducting, and analyzing a wide range of lab activities. Additionally, I guided and supported junior staff members, helping them grow in their roles and ensuring the smooth running of our team’s work

The Research Department’s main commitment is delivering new technologies and therapeutic targets from idea to proof-of-concept. We are the driving force of new ideas for gene therapies and form the innovative pipeline of the organisation. As research technician, I am heavily involved in the practical lab work (including DNA/miRNA/exoRNA/Protein isolations, PCRs, RT-qPCRs, ELISAs, Western Blot) on various samples (cells from culture, tissue, bio fluids), under ML-l and ML-ll regulations, and subsequently data analysis and reporting. Examples of projects we are currently working on are Hemophilia, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease and SCA3.

Amsterdam, Bio-Analytical Development Team

As technician in the 'biological analytical development' (BioAD) department of UniQure, I am responsible for the development, validation and implementation of bio-analytical assays to monitor safety and efficacy during (non-)clinical development.We develop and qualify analytical methods that support assessment of (1) safety, e.g. methods to assess immune responses against vector or transgene, (2) pharmacokinetics, e.g. methods to detect and quantify vector DNA and transcripts, and (3) pharmacodynamics, e.g. methods to monitor disease biomarkers and their response to gene therapy. Daily used techniques are pulverisation of tissue, DNA isolation out of tissue or body fluids, (RT)qPCR and ELISA, under ML-l and ML-ll regulations. Lastly, we execute and report these analysis on preclinical-, nonclinical- and clinical study sample sets scientifically sound and under GLP- and quality compliance.

Research project on targeting metabolic overload and inflammation in established non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, using immunohistology staining and RT-qPCR to study inflammation, steatosis and collagen formation in NAFLD.

Guidance of students and examine their final reports in the courses 'Presentation Skills' and 'Argumentation Skills".

Main activity, besides several side activities and theatre productions, was organising the yearly series of eight performances with sales around €14.000. As secretary, I improved my team spirit, communication skills and time planning and management.
