With over 20 years of experience in strategy development and senior management in international higher education and research policy, Anouk is a passionate expert in the field of global higher education and research.Anouk is currently Director of International Affairs at the University of Amsterdam. In this role, she is responsible for delivering the University’s International Strategy and leading on the university-wide implementation of the lines of action underpinning this strategy. Prior to joining the University of Amsterdam, Anouk served as Head of the China Desk and Policy Adviser at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences for 8 years. Combining a critical view, ‘to-the-point’ attitude and a sense of humor, she possesses excellent management and negotiation skills, is an experienced team leader with the ability to lead on complex, ambitious projects involving multiple partners and stakeholders. A Sinologist by training, Anouk is a proud alumna of Leiden University, where she specialised in Contemporary Chinese politics. A global citizen by choice, Anouk’s bi-cultural background nurtured an in-depth understanding of inter-cultural differences and ability to seamlessly adapt to various cultural and societal contexts.
