As a placement student at the Centre for Health Economics at the University of York, I worked on my dissertation for my MSc in Health Economics. In this dissertation I explore the causal relationship between caesarean sections and cognitive and non cognitive outcomes of children.

As a member of the customer experience team I make sure to greet and engage with audience members, to make sure they feel welcomed. I mainly work behind the bar taking peoples drinks orders and preparing them for them. During the show while the audience is watching the show we make sure that all bars are restocked and cleaned. We also clean up any rubbish we find and make sure the space including the bathroom and clean and tidy to create a safe and welcoming environment for the customers.

As a student assistant to the study advisors I assisted the study advisors with that day to day tasks. Mostly we worked together in a shared email inbox, in which they received a large number of emails every day. We made sure we stayed up to date with emailingstudents back regarding questions they have.

Representing Erasmus School of Economics at events for prospective students, there were usually open days or events at high schools. Giving presentations at high schools to inform prospective students about the opportunities at Erasmus University and the Economics department. Hosting student-for-a-day days where we guided high school students to several lectures and gave them a presentation about he program with a case study.

Teaching weekly tutorial to first year bachelor students in a two hour tutorial. The tutorials supplemented the lectures, I mostly went over homework questions they had and answered any additional questions on the course material. In the week following the tutorials I graded the team assignments they would do during the tutorials.

Guiding freshman through the transition from high school to university. Preparing and teaching weekly 2-hour tutorials in which I taught freshman about how to access all the university systems and presentation skills. I was also the students first point of contact in case of issues or they felt like they needed to talk someone. To create a safe and welcoming environment I had several moment where I talked to the students one-on-one to see how they were getting on and in case there were any issues either academically or in their personal lives.
