Hardware InternVlsi System Design Jul 2024 - Aug 2024During this internship, I delved into various aspects of RISC-V architecture and its applications, which not only honed my technical skills but also expanded my understanding of hardware-software integration.Here’s a glimpse of what I accomplished:1️⃣ Binary Neural Network Implementation:Developed a Binary Neural Network with the goal of equating O0 = O1.Modeled the chip using GCC and Specs (C model) to generate O0 and O1, respectively.Created a C language testbench to ensure outputs from GCC (O0) and Specs (O1) were equivalent.Compiled the C code using the RISC-V toolchain and verified the optimized assembly code.Employed RISC-V ISA and Spike Simulator to validate the binary neural network implementation.2️⃣ Moving Average Filter on CH32V003:One of my key projects was implementing a Moving Average Filter on the CH32V003 microcontroller to achieve precise sensor data smoothing. The task involved:Designing the Algorithm: I developed a Moving Average Filter algorithm to smooth out sensor data by averaging a set of consecutive data points, which effectively reduces noise and improves the reliability of the readings.Implementation: I implemented the filter in C, ensuring that it efficiently handled the data stream from an ADC connected to the sensor3️⃣ RISC-V Instruction Analysis:Listed various RISC-V instruction types (R, I, S, B, U, J).Identified 15 unique RISC-V instructions from the RISC-V objdump of my application code.Mapped the exact 32-bit instruction code in the instruction type format for these unique instructions.4️⃣ Functional Simulation & Documentation: I performed functional simulations using a provided RISC-V core Verilog netlist and testbench. The waveform snapshots were documented in my GitHub repository, contributing to a thorough understanding of the simulation results. -
