Research Projects:1. Identification of regulatory elements in the promoter region of a nutrient responsive gene (LaMATE) of Lupinus albus Matrix search in Transfac database revealed some transcription factor binding sites hypothesized to be involved in chalcone biosynthesis. Experiments were done to validate the possible regulation mechanism via these TF binding sites in vitro through Chemiluminescent Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA). 2. Identification of cdc6 gene from Fritillaria lilliaceae by applying RACE Project’s objective was to obtain the complete the cDNA sequence of cdc6 gene from Fritillaria by using 2 gene specific primers designed on the basis of ~460bp cdc6 sequence.

Taught molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, immunology, animal cell culture and biophysics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Played a very active role in bootstrapping the biotechnology department at this college.Gained experience in organizing the curriculum, supervising the setting up of departmental library and five well equipped biotechnology labs.
