Title of the project," Understanding the aetiology of Oesophageal Carcinoma in Jammu". Methylation at the CpG island in the promoter region of a gene is one of the mechanisms of gene silencing and has been linked with the suppression of various tumour-suppressor genes. The aim of this project was to check the promoter methylation status of different genes in oesophageal tumour tissues and compare them with the normal-adjacent tissues.
