About Anson Park
Anson Park is a Manager, Data Science at Gen™. He possess expertise in dod, military, security clearance, air force, defense and 9 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I had the privilege of working under Anson's management on the Analytics and Data Science team for about two years at Gen (formerly NortonLifeLock). Throughout this time, Anson demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. He was always approachable and provided invaluable assistance whenever I had questions. His responsiveness and openness to new ideas fostered an innovative environment. Anson’s commitment to high-quality and efficient work set a standard for our team. His genuine care for each team member was evident through his frequent check-ins, ensuring everyone felt supported and engaged. Anson’s ability to combine professionalism with a personal touch made a significant impact on our team’s morale and productivity. Working with Anson has been a remarkable experience, and I am confident that his future endeavors will be met with great success. Any team would be lucky to have him as a leader." and "I first met Anson when I returned from paternity leave. A few months prior, I was told over the phone that a PHD student with exceptional statistics skills and a military background would be joining the team. My initial thought was that I was going to be again the least smartest person on the team. And I can gladly say that hasn't changed one bit. I am extremely proud to work alongside such a dependable, accomplished young guy. What I like most about Anson is that he is team first, himself second. He is always seeking ways to help his team and others achieve in the realm of experimentation excellence. He's quietly becoming the face of experimentation at American Express because of how much time he pours into actionable whitepapers, slide decks, presentations and reproduceable code. Anson can honestly do it all, and I think he approaches every day as if yesterday just wasn't good enough - that kind of demeanor is contagious and it consequentially makes those around him strive to be better. I am greatly looking forward to growing alongside Anson and learning from one of the most skilled statisticians I know. He does things the right way, and brings others along with him to share in his successes."

Principal Technical Program Manager, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (Oci)
Current
Principal Data Scientist
Manager, Data Science
I supervised a four-member data science team that delivered predictive ML models (cross-sell/upsell targeting, propensity to churn), A/B testing expertise, and ad-hoc analytics to support multiple stakeholders in customer success management, pricing, and finance. We planned, executed, and analyzed multiple web, email, and in-product pop-up messaging experiments to optimize the auto-renewal opt-in flow and customer lifecycle communications, which contributed to a 200bps increase in customer retention. I also communicated campaign results and insights to senior leadership via reports and presentations, transforming complex analytics into actionable recommendations.
Senior Data Scientist
As a senior data scientist supporting the Customer Success Management organization, I identified a customer targeting issue in the Norton communication platform and collaborated with several engineering teams to resolve the issue, which led to a 20% lift in successful message displays for eligible consumers. I also created a modular code base (SQL/Python/R) to standardize data wrangling and campaign analysis, enabling the execution of eight experiments that led to a 50% lift in trial customer conversions to paid subscribers.
Data Science Manager
I led a seven-member data science team that executed a high visibility pricing project, driving significant lifts in sales revenue and profit margin. We developed a store clustering methodology and identified five main store profiles from over 600 features that were aggregated from in-house and multiple third party data sources. This project was a key enabler for scaling data-driven pricing to 21 business units throughout North America and Europe. We also created a tool that generates pricing "playbooks", a formatted spreadsheet that facilities expedient review and approval of price updates for over 1500 items throughout a store. The tool reduced the time required for review and implementation of price updates from a month to less than a week.
Manager, Digital Experimentation & Insights
I led the three-member "Experimentation Center of Excellence", where I collaborated with analysts, product owners, and technology partners to conduct and improve experimentation, exploratory data analysis, and optimization of various digital customer journeys. I researched and implemented sequential A/B testing (mSPRT, group sequential designs) and bandit algorithms (discounted Thompson sampling) to reduce testing duration for enhanced web page and mobile app features by up to 70%. I also served as the primary data scientist on a full-stack engineering team that produced a proprietary experimentation platform for enterprise-wide use. This in-house experimentation tool eliminated the need for multiple software contracts and saved $2M annually.
Graduate Research Associate
I received the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Dean's Fellowship that provided full tuition coverage and additional support via a 50% FTE graduate research associate position as I completed by Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. I completed two research projects as a graduate research associate:1) Development of Vertical Flow Immunoassays (VFIs) for multiple pathogen detection - This project was sponsored by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. I designed experiments, collected data, and created predictive models for signal (grayscale) intensity, collaborating with a team of three biomedical engineers to produce optimized prototype VFIs capable of multiplex biomarker detection. These prototypes will eventually be manufactured for field-grade use in deployed locations by military and Department of Defense civilian personnel for reliable pathogen detection during a biological attack. This research project led to a joint publication: Chen, P., Gates-Hollingsworth, M., Pandit, S., Park, A., Montgomery, D., AuCoin, D., & Zenhausern, F. (2019). Paper-based Vertical Flow Immunoassay (VFI) for detection of bio-threat pathogens. Talanta, 191, 81-88.2) Facial recognition parity - This project was sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). I developed an experimentation and analysis procedure for convolutional neural networks trained on various splits of custom face databases to evaluate model "fairness" - whether there was a disparity in how reliably a person could be identified based on attributes such as race and gender. Strong evidence of gender and racial model accuracy bias, heavily influenced by the training data, was found and presented to DHS leadership.
Acquisitions Officer
As an active duty Air Force acquisitions officer, my first assignment (May 2008 - March 2010) was an advanced academic degree scholarship as a full-time student at the Air Force Institute of Technology. I completed my M.S. in Operations Research with a focus in statistics and discrete-event simulation. Afterwards, I completed two operational assignments:1) Commander, Operations Analysis Flight, 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron, Eglin AFB, FL (March 2010 - April 2013):I supervised ten military personnel and was responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing 15 weapon system evaluations. I led data collection, analysis, and technical reporting (written reports and presentations) for 352 precision-guided munitions valued at $60M. I also coordinated operations for over 600 deployed personnel at 17 geographically separated bases. As a result of these evaluations, 41 critical findings were reported directly to the Air Force Chief of Staff, leading to significant improvement in warfighter tactics and lethality.2) Lead Special Access Programs (SAP) Analyst, Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, Detachment 4, Peterson AFB, CO (April 2013 - June 2015):I guided a six-member military and civilian test team through several operational test planning and execution events for two space communications systems. I forged the test concept and data analysis plan for a $1B SAP and reduced the original test duration by 25%. I directed four test events and saved $100K by leveraging system performance data observed in developmental testing.
