Like many, I accidentally fell into a sales role straight out of college. My original plan was to become a journalist as I enjoyed writing and sharing stories. My journalistic ambitions soon faded as I became fully swept up in the rush of closing my first deal.Having held various commercial roles for over 17 years, it's fair to say that I've developed a love of numbers and data, after all, you can't argue with maths, right?During my career, I've worked with various retailers including Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons, Staples, WH Smith, and Ryman, amongst many others including large wholesale/contract clients Lyreco, Office Depot, Spicers and VOW.In 2011 I was introduced to an online retailer called Amazon, little did I know this would set the course of my career for many years to come. For years I had managed my speed to match that of the pace of my clients. Amazon completely changed this, I forged my own strategies that matched the speed I could and wanted to run and Amazon gladly accepted..on top of all of this I had access to more data than ever before. I'd finally found my passion and calling..driving profitable and sustainable growth on Amazon.As I was growing so too were my accounts, and with growth came the need to scale. To enable this I needed to build, lead and manage a team. I quickly learnt that true success isn't about how many goals you can score, but instead, success is measured by your ability to help others identify and score goals for themselves. People management in my view is the hardest part of any managerial or leadership role, but having now truly understood my own journey I'm excited to help others on theirs. Whether it's situational or developmental feedback or coaching, learning from others and sharing your own views is key for continued personal growth.But it's not all about work, outside of helping brands and individuals maximise their Amazon performance I enjoy personal fitness and time with my family. We own a campervan called Swampy, so when I'm not working I'm travelling and camping somewhere remote. Occasionally I get to combine my love of the outdoors and Amazon, so if we jump on a video call don't be surprised if I'm in the middle of a field.I thought I would close my bio with a quote from a leader, colleague and friend of many years.
