I had my light bulb moment in quite an unexpected place. I was at Uni, in a marketing lecture, when someone from the Australian Conservation Foundation came in to speak about fundraising. As he spoke I suddenly realised that the corporate world was not the only direction for my career.I had already spent many years travelling (to avoid responsibility in my 20’s) to places that no one I knew had been to or talked about. Places like; Tibet, Nepal, India (more times than I can count), South America (nearly moved to Cuzco but that’s another story) and the Middle East. On these journeys I saw poverty, exploitation, hunger and a dire lack of women’s rights, every day in different ways.During the lecture, things in my head - and heart - started to click and move me towards what has now become a truly fulfilling, almost 17-year career in the non profit industry.That day back in 2001 I realised there must be a way to apply my skills, passion and knowledge to causes and movements that really could change the world.After six years as a fundraiser I founded Redstone Marketing and Design in 2008. It is an inspired and passionate Melbourne based studio that provides marketing, fundraising and design services to the non profit industry.
