Currently, I serve as an EVP , Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Medical Mutual of Ohio which provides health coverage, MA, life insurance and wellness products to its members. I oversee legal, compliance, MA compliance, financial investigations, and group contracting. I am a member of the executive leadership team.Previously as Chief Legal Officer and a member of the executive leadership team of Akron Children's Hospital, I provided counsel to the health care system and oversee the legal affairs, risk management, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, board governance, tax issues, health care regulatory matters, medical staff matters, provider contracting, HIPAA activities, and implementation of a contract management system. I also implemented an enterprise risk management program and lead the initiative. I coordinated a team of professionals who provided these services for the system. I oversee all of the legal work inhouse and provided by law firms. Additionally, I oversee and negotiate all joint ventures and acquisitions. I oversee all business and medical malpractice litigation and mediations for the institution. I oversaw all regulatory issues concerning the Hospital and its providers and provided counsel to the boards and various board committees.
