Development of analysis and design engineering libraries which are utilized through plug-ins for Revit, custom Windows applications, and Rhino/Grasshopper components. Computational design of structures using parametric finite element analysis and evolutionary solvers.

Concrete, Steel, and Timber building design of gravity and lateral systems. Development of automated processes to analyze optimal geometries of structural systems. Structural modeling and verification through hand calculations and tools developed to catch potential structural modeling errors and improve design workflows. Development of custom Grasshopper components to utilize geometry building in Rhino3D and post-processing of structural analysis results from SAP2000, ETABS, and GSA using software APIs. Digital leadership through knowledge sharing sessions and organization of an internal European Hackathon event hosting participants from 9 countries.

The thesis for my Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Wood Science was focused on developing hybrid connection systems for self-centering Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) walls. The intent of the system is to control damage and reduce residual story drift in buildings during earthquakes. My previous work has been on the characterization and behavior analysis of CLT panels made from hybrid-poplar wood.

This research consisted of building 20 wood framed walls and performing quasi-static cyclic tests . The purpose of these experiments was to determine the strength and stiffness of a more energy efficient stud orientation compared with conventionally framed walls.

As a Lead Carpenter I supervised of a small crew of carpenters for residential exterior carpentry projects. This position influenced my desire to pursue a career in engineering due to the complex planning and logistics associated with construction projects. Much of my pragmatic thinking can be attributed to the skills learned during my time with this company.

As a project manager, my responsibilities were to coordinate the sales, manufacturing, and installation of small and large sign projects. Working for a sign company exposed me to many different kinds of materials and I was able to further my knowledge of steel, aluminum, and plastic in creative applications.
