I am a Software Engineer, specialised in GIS and data management. I have an Information System Architecture background, where I focused mainly on software development, database management, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and bit of signal analysis. Towards the end of my studies, I decided to focus on mapping, being a map enthusiast, and I performed an internship in a GIS R&D service of a farming cooperative, before joining the joint WMO-IOC/UNESCO centre OceanOPS (formerly named JCOMMOPS). In this position, I continuously developed my skills in scripting, data management, GIS tools (including the whole chain of information, from data to web mapping), while having a focus on marine in situ observing systems thematic. This role involved a lot of international travels and communications, thus requiring proficient writing and speaking English skills. Having moved recently to Ireland, I started working for a Local Authority, the Galway County Council, as a senior GIS Analyst contributing to the digitization of processes. I moved since back to the marine domain, working for the Marine Institute as a team lead, on upgrading the SmartBay data services architecture.Being deeply environmentally concerned, I highly value the purpose of the tasks I'm asked to put effort into. My lifestyle and hobbies are highly driven by this ecological fibre, and I always question myself about what I could do better to minimize my impact on the environment.On my free time, I practice free diving, hiking, and cycling. I can stay hours staring at maps, looking for the tiniest details. I have also a great interest in paleontology, astronomy and fauna/flora study/observation (sustainable gardening, wildlife conservation, etc.), as well as Do It Yourself activities, targeting mainly sustainability.
