I was responsible for overseeing at least 5 different tests at any one time, helping my team troubleshoot any technical problems, carryout workplace and analytical audits. I also assess the data generated from the analysis to ensure they are fit to go out to customers. I review quality control data trends and, working with the quality management team, amend the quality limits if required. All statistical analysis is carried out using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and Microsoft excel. These tools aid greatly when investigating any non-conformities that may arise in analysis and developing current analytical methods and procedures. It is also important to maintain a healthy relationship with internal and external partners and customers. Duties included, stock management of chemicals, preparation of equipment to be used that day (including calibration of various equipment), liaising with lab stewards to organise removal of various kinds of waste (chemical and general) and general secretarial duties (photocopying, answering phone calls and taking messages, inputting of data and filing). This role involved working as part of a team and being able to work alone to get tasks done. When I was involved in testing and analysing I was required to prime inhalers in accordance with the written method and carefully label the vials to run on the HPLC kit.
